Inspiration behind K2K

Since my 11th standard, I am riding a bike. Hero splendor 100 cc was the first bike I ever rode. My father taught me how to ride it, it took one week. Once I learnt it, never looked back. My father always encouraged me towards that and I would say he is one of the best father of the world. I am lucky to born in such a family who gave me all freedom and just grew me up as an individual, they never differentiated between a girl and a boy.

After 2 years of riding which I did in my hometown, I came to Noida for further studies and after I completed my engineering, I came to Bangalore. So approximately for 7 years I didn’t ride bike except when I used to visit my hometown.

On 8th March 2013, I got invitation by Mr. Ramesh (Road king Rambo) for one bike ride on International women’s day. I didn't have bike and renting bike was so expensive and moreover I was scared because I was not at all used to of metro city riding like Bangalore. I thought of giving a try and sent a mail in few groups about my requirement that I want to be a pillion rider if any girl is riding to this event. And I got a reply from a girl called Ramya (we are still friends though we get to talk less J) who owns a bullet I was amazed to see a girl owns a bullet, I was like WOW. We met on 8th March morning, her husband came to see her off, I was even more amazed to see that her husband supports her for all that. I was wishing and still wishes I should get also one like that ;) ;)

After that I continued riding. I did some short trips like Nandi Hills, Devanahalli, Thattakere, Kolli Hills, Hampi, Yellagiri, Lepakshi, Masinagudi, Waynad and Mysore and to name a few more.  After doing all these trips in group with friends, I thought of experiencing solo trips and I didn't take very much time in executing ;)

In the month of Feb 2014. One fine morning, I asked to one of my friend Prashant to lend me his RE TB, I love his bike especially because of kick-start and he had modified it a little and it looks sexy. It took me 15 mins to learn, how to kick start it. After that I was all set to leave to Chennai. It was a solo trip and I did Bangalore-Chennai-Bangalore in 12 hrs which is 700 km approx both ways.

In March end 2014 I did Bangalore -> Pune. Solo unplanned trip, 850 kms in 16 hrs including overnight ride on Yamaha SZ-R. After 2 days back from Pune – Bangalore.
I am sure many must be having one question in their mind, from where the idea of k2k came to my mind? Why did I choose only this particular route, why not East to West expedition?

So the answer is here, One day on one trip to Haserghatta with one of my best buddy Roshan, I was
discussing that I want to go on one long solo ride. He gave me some options. I didn't like any of them. One by one it went on and suddenly with full of excitement he said “Why don’t you try solo K2K expedition, it will be a lifetime achievement and moreover I am sure no female rider would have done it , you will be the first one”. That was something clicked to my mind and I took it seriously. It took 15 days for me to decide and confirm that I am going to do k2k.
Today i have achieved it , India's and world's first female rider who did Kanyakumari to Leh all alone and i did it at a very tender age about which every rider keeps dreaming whole life........

What better time than now...

It has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime. What better place than here ? what better time than now ? - Zach de la Rocha All my life I have stayed in India and never had an urge to go abroad. One reason is because India itself is so diverse and beautiful and there is so much to see and explore that not even one life is enough. Also, through all my biking trips and travels I have found endless peace and excitement that I never had to look anywhere else. For the first time I moved out from India to Amsterdam, The Dutch capital. A country lying below sea level and mostly has flat terrain. It has a long history of social tolerance and generally regarded as a liberal country having legalized abortion, prostitution and euthanasia. I remember some of my colleagues in Bosch who visited Europe and never stopped babbling their experiences. Nobody honks and people follow traffic rules and if you are a pedestrian or a cyclist you will actually be respected more on roads. No one wou

My first love in the Netherlands ....

From centuries old windmills, tulip fields, fishing villages, unique country side, enchanting canals and amazing nightlife, Netherlands is famous for countless things. I came to this country in 2016 and immediately fell in love. I live in Amsterdam and the the first shocker was the amount of bikes everywhere. I love bikes and had one back home. As much as it was a shock, it was fascinating and inspiring. My searc h for a a bike that suits me started on the very first day of my arrival. Though rough and tough, I found the dutch city bikes boring, ugly and heavy and not something for my taste. My husband tried all tricks to convince me but I was unshakable and wanted something differet. Finally I stumbled upon this pink sleek beauty and It was love at first sight. Next day it become our family member and I was so happy exploring the beautiful city like local on my lovely cute bike. Be it going for groceries, yoga classes on the other side of city or job interviews, my fixie was my co

Day 1 - Delhi to Churu

Though I was all set I was yet to share the plan with my father. Not surprisingly he wasn't pleased and this was not the first time. By now I have practiced the art of convincing my dad. A day before the journey I went through my most basic checklist: full fuel tank - checked, air pressure - checked. It was cold outside and I made sure to park the bike in shade to avoid early morning ignition issues. By now I could feel the butterflies in my stomach, that very same feeling I get a night before my bike trips; trying hard to sleep but countless thoughts and the anxiety encroaching my mind. Almost 7 in the morning I and my sister were ready to leave and as a rule of thumb I switched on the engine and left it running for couple of minutes. Though a rare sight, my husband woke up early to click some pics for us and see us off. The next moment I was on the road heading towards Churu (enroute Bahadurgarh, Sampla, Bhiwani and Jhunjhunu). Barely I had travelled few miles w
